Ceiling joists are 2x6 but 4 on center rafters are 2.
Have a 2x4 running perpendicular to garage roof rafters.
Would sistering 2x4 s in one 12 and two 8 sections all glued and screwed be enough to make it safe for storage.
I am adding 3 4 plywood as the floor but also elevating the floor with 2x4 laid on their sides going perpendicular to the trusses.
It is unnecessary at this point for the same reason you can t move the mis spaced truss to where it should be.
The 2x4 perpindicular to the rafters is there to space the rafters or trusses apart prior to the roof being sheeting being installed.
He also put a few braces from the joist to the rafters to keep the rafters from swaying.
When you have ceiling joists running perpendicular to the rafters you typically need rafter ties often installed 4 feet on center.
I don t see this in what you posted.
It is possible the roof is supported by a structural beam instead of mere ridge board then you may not need the rafter ties.
I do not have engineered trusses.
The span is 28.
I did some calculations lastnight and came up with 4 6 lbs psf.
I suppose i could add more but with the span across the garage they would have to be tied in to the rafters like the existing ones are which ultimately adds the load to the rafters still.
The builder tied the rafters together by running two 2x4 s perpendicular to the rafters about three feet from the top of the ridge board running the length of the roof.
It has an a frame roof.
For example in the rafter span table below the highlighted cell in the 40 live load table indicates that 2 x 8 southern yellow pine joists that have a grade of 2 that are.
